“ It Pursued Me “
by Suzán Jiván

It pursued me
into my dreams
as a singing species
of unearthly beings
believed to be females
unfolding
from repressed spheres
of unnerving coteries
provoking nonbeings
via “disembodiment”
invariably hinging on fragility
resembling wind string or reed
haunting whistling modifying larynx
timbre stamp construed to be male
according to theories
of shared morality
as unravelled individualities
texture personality echoing passion
pale inanimate threadbare
genderless messengers
bearers of letters expressed
as intense “inner sexes”
charismatically witnessed
texts and sonnets
slow solemn stillnesses...
