” Eerily Familiar “
by Suzán Jiván Mom
& Mom-Mom Suzán
Eerily familar nodding at sea
flag-waving devotees
refusing to accept defeat
while managing
a staggering lead
with deep fears
of it backfiring
via human nighs
being shunned
many a time
seeking
hope inside
of crises
being likened
to cosmetic
injections
for guys
repeatedly crying
“wrinkles in time;
we’re on your side;
a stitch in time saves nine”
one must be awed
with a hard core at the fore
as spurious metaphors
violent as well as
benevolent
direct descendants
often expressed
as serpents
subordinating
shaved heads
utterly
exhausting strength
artist mystic saint
shamans’ stages
stumbling
upon snakes mating
spectral night faces
emanating
without fixed shapes
proclaiming,
“Let us pray!”
while navel gazing
and swelling
with expectation...
