like neon-green-lensed lights
contrasted by hexagonal red signs

while gushers flow during 150th roles
far and away from medicalized approaches
all due tomorrow by astrologers
trying on hypotheses just for size

watching reindeer fly with widening eyes
keeping chins up plus chests puffed
over older caterpillar blacks
with pale-orange bands

atop cream-colored dots
from Alberta to Utah
on sparse hilltops
for astronomers’
fall equinoxes

smelling of shriveling rotting leaves
as seen beneath glossy fall shrubbery
buds turning gradations of mauve pinks
smokey purply at their peak

perennials lingering
velvety looks and feels
quiet harmony reliably hardy
gracefully arching
blooming only briefly
then deliberately
lapsing into dormancy...

hard to accuse of pandering
easily triggering strapless gags
as subliminally captured flashbacks
like creepy distractions
of musically maladaptive
Grimm’s Fairy Tales

during re-tailored
cleavage-enhancing farewells
co-mingling with both wonder and dread
as refugees of ruthlessness
heads bowed praying in primitive
mission pews trimmed with kitschilly
stiffened deep-pink netting...

legs stretched out comfy feet on hassocks

feeling relaxed yet expansive
while living within ramshackle
palaces of former glamour
canaries perched on wingback chairs

past masters growing gray and shaggy
having screwed up badly
with impromptu sweetness and sadness

cued in by harsh ironies
thereby “permitted to be interesting”
not to mention “feeling pushed to the edge”
irrespective of “The Self”
making murky sense while lifting
partial fingerprints of smudgy memories...
